Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Podcast?
The word "podcasting" is a combination of the words "iPod" and "Broadcasting." It is a way for people to be able to subscribe to audio content over the Internet, much like you subscribe to a print magazine. The best way to explain it is to say that you choose what podcasts you want to be delivered and downloaded to your computer, just like you choose what magazines you have delivered to your mailbox.   You can listen to the podcasts you subscribe to either from your computer, iPod, or other MP3 player.
What is an iPod?
An iPod is similar to what parents may have called a "Walkman."   A Walkman played your cassette tapes and/or radio stations while you listened on your headphones.   An iPod is the same concept, but not only does it play your music, it also stores and organizes your music or audio content digitally in the form of an aiff file (like an MP3).   Some iPods will even play movies, store and display photos and flash cards, allow you to dictate information, or act as a hard drive for backing up your documents. iPods are an excellent way to listen to a podcast!
